Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Woman with nitrous oxide nasal mask

Most people know nitrous oxide by a different, sillier name — laughing gas! This mild sedative is safe for all ages, and it’s administered through a nasal mask that we’ll place on the patient at the beginning of their appointment. After a few minutes of breathing in the gas, you should feel calmer and more content while still remaining aware of what’s happening around you. The biggest benefit of nitrous oxide is that the effects wear off extremely quickly following your appointment, which means that it’s safe to return to your daily routine and even drive yourself with minimal to no downtime required.

IV Sedation

We are proud to be one of the few dental practices in the Kenai Peninsula to offer IV sedation, which is ideal for patients with moderate to advanced dental fear or who are in need of extensive treatment. The medication is delivered intravenously and can be adjusted as needed to ensure complete comfort and safety throughout the procedure. While patients will not be rendered unconscious, they will become so deeply relaxed that it’s very likely they will have little memory of the experience once they’ve recovered. Please keep in mind that you will need a trusted escort to take you home following your appointment and keep an eye on you for the rest of the day when undergoing IV sedation.
