Why Would I Need a New Crown?

Whether you’ve had a traditional crown placed or not, you know that dental crowns offer added protection to a weak tooth. When a tooth is decayed or has significant damage, it can be difficult eating, chewing, or even speaking without being in pain.

If you’ve had a traditional crown placed in the past, and it’s time to have it replaced, CEREC technology can offer an alternative solution that will provide a more durable, longer-lasting dental crown. Not only is the process fast, simple, and minimally invasive, but it will produce a crown that fully protects your tooth, giving you increased confidence and peace of mind.

How Does CEREC Technology Work?

Once Dr. O’Donoghue takes a scan of your tooth, the image will be sent to the machine to allow him to begin creating your customized crown. Because everything is happening under one roof, once he is finished designing the crown, it will be sent to the in-house milling machine that will carve out your new crown.

When finished, Dr. O’Donoghue will place the crown into your mouth, bonding it into place. The entire process should only take 1 to 2 hours!
